Advancing Surgical Care

For a long time, surgical care has been limited to the initial consultation and the operation itself. At Ellard Health, we believe we can — and should — do more. We want to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes and lifelong improvements in health by giving them the knowledge, tools, and support they need to reduce their risk of complications, lower inflammation, improve recovery, and manage pain.

Our interactive, personalized preoperative program guides you week by week to get ready for surgery. Each plan is tailored to your needs and focuses on evidence-based strategies that support optimal recovery: nutrition and glycemic control, targeted exercise and mobility work, sleep hygiene, smoking and alcohol reduction, medication review, and strategies to lower systemic inflammation.

We know making health changes can be challenging. That’s why our program includes catch‑up appointments and coaching to help you overcome barriers and stay on track. For patients who want more intensive support, we offer elevated-care packages with additional investigations and monitoring to gather the data needed for truly individualized recommendations.

Questions about your surgery can arise at any time, and you may not always be able to reach your surgical team. Our clinicians are available to help answer questions and, when appropriate, liaise with your surgeon to ensure coordinated care.

Ellard Health’s goal is simple: extend surgical care beyond the operating theatre, empower patients with practical, medically grounded guidance, and deliver safer, smoother recoveries with better long-term health.

Why Choose Dr Ellard?

Dr Rebecca Ellard is an NHS GP who believes every patient should feel confident, informed and truly in control of their own health. Her care is warm, compassionate and practical — not just shaped by years in clinical practice, but by living through surgery herself.

Over the past 11 years Dr Rebecca Ellard has been through two hip arthroscopies, a steroid hip injection, a laparoscopic hernia repair and a caesarean section. She knows, from the inside, how surgery can press on your body and on your spirits. Like many of us, she remembers being handed a date and simply turning up — with little clear advice about how to prepare, how to recover or how to reduce the chance of complications. That passive pathway felt unsettling and disempowering.

Determined to change that for herself and for others, Dr Rebecca Ellard trained in lifestyle medicine and studied the best evidence on preparing for surgery. Before her most recent hip arthroscopy she did things differently: she optimised blood tests and nutrition, arranged her home for recovery, prioritised sleep and meaningful social support, kept moving safely and reduced harmful substances. She learned simple, practical ways to lower inflammation, ease pain and speed recovery — and discovered how much being informed and in control can lift your confidence and your outcome.

She also knows the hard days — the setbacks, the low moments when giving up seems easier. Those real-life experiences inspired her to train as a coach and to create personalised preoperative packages. Her approach blends evidence-based medical advice with compassionate coaching so you don’t just face surgery — you prepare for it, understand it, and recover from it with strength and dignity.

If you’d like someone who’s walked the path with you — who combines medical expertise, lived experience and a genuinely caring touch — Dr Rebecca Ellard will guide you every step of the way.
